Program Overview

This program is designed for registered nurses who aim to develop advanced clinical knowledge and skills to work effectively. It is a 1-year course fully recognized by the Pakistan Nursing Council (PNC) and the Nursing Examination Board, Punjab (NEBP). Upon completion of the required academic and clinical training, final examinations are conducted by NEBP.

Specialization Streams

The college offers three post-basic specialization streams. Each stream combines theoretical instruction with intensive clinical rotations in the relevant ward / unit.

1 Year

Pediatric Nursing

Specialized diploma in child healthcare, covering neonatal care, childhood diseases and family-centered nursing. Clinical training across pediatric wards, NICU and outpatient departments.

1 Year

Mental Health Nursing

Specialized diploma focusing on psychiatric and mental health nursing care, assessment, and therapeutic interventions. Includes clinical rotations in psychiatry wards and community mental health settings.

1 Year

Cardiac Care Nursing

Specialized diploma focusing on cardiovascular nursing, cardiac monitoring, emergency care and rehabilitation. Hands-on training in CCU, cath lab and cardiac surgery units.

Post Basic Specialization — Admission Criteria

  • 85% aggregate marks in:
    1. General Nursing (03 years) & Midwifery (01 year) (for Females).
    2. General Nursing (03 years) & one year Post Basic in any Specialty (for Males) in lieu of Midwifery Diploma.
  • 05% aggregate of Post RN B.Sc. Nursing (two years) degree program.
  • Total Marks: 85

Experience (Category-I)

  • Professional experience of Government Service (regular, adhoc, contract service) (01 mark per year, maximum 10 marks).

Initial two years regular Government service mandatory for Placement (not deputation) will not be considered for scoring purposes.

  • 90% aggregate marks of BSN Generic (04 years degree program).
  • Total Marks: 90

Experience (Category-II)

  • Professional experience of Government Service (regular, adhoc, contract service) (01 mark per year, maximum 10 marks).

Initial two years regular Government service mandatory for Placement (not deputation) will not be considered for scoring purposes.

Policies

  1. Students are required to fulfill their study credit hours and clinical practice hours as notified by NEBP / SHC&ME Department. The fulfillment of requisite attendance in clinical duties along with classes is mandatory in each subject from the student side.
  2. 100% of study attendance is desired to be ensured by each student and also comply with the NEBP mandatory requirements to appear in the exam.
  3. Total number of permissible leaves are 30 days per annum.
  4. All sorts of leaves i.e. medical leave, maternity leave, ex-Pakistan leave etc. will come under the ambit of these permissible 30 leaves during the program.
  1. The mid-term examination shall be held in the 9th week of the semester.
  2. The schedule / date sheet shall be notified by the Directorate of Student Affairs of the respective institution, two weeks before the commencement of the examination, in accordance with the notified academic calendar.
  3. The candidate shall be required to attempt all the questions given in mid-term examination. There shall be no choice.

Mid-Term Examination shall comprise of only Theory Examination.

  1. The students having minimum of 50% marks in internal assessment of each course will be eligible to appear in final examination.
  2. The students having minimum of 85% attendance per course will be eligible to appear in final examination.
  1. The application for admission to the final examination shall be submitted online.
  2. Hard copy of the application duly attested by the Head / Principal of the respective department / institution along with the evidence for payment of the prescribed fee voucher shall be submitted to NEBP.

The final examination shall consist of Theory and Practical Examinations of subject as per the curriculum, conducted by NEBP.

According to Pakistan Nursing and Midwifery Council Rules & Regulations, uniforms will be worn as follows:

  • White Shalwar
  • White Shirt with full sleeves
  • White half coat with half sleeves (Koti)
  • Monogram of the institution on one pocket
  • In winter: dark green jersey / coat
  • Attendance and Punctuality: Regular attendance and punctuality are expected. Unauthorized absences or tardiness may lead to disciplinary action.
  • Academic Integrity: Plagiarism, cheating, and academic dishonesty will not be tolerated. Consequences may include failing a course or expulsion.
  • Respect for Others: Students are expected to treat faculty, staff, and peers with respect. Harassment, bullying, or discrimination will not be tolerated.
  • Classroom Behavior: Students are expected to behave professionally and respectfully in class. Disruptions, phone use, or other distracting behavior may lead to removal from class.
  • Dress Code: Students are expected to dress modestly and professionally, adhering to the institution's dress code policy.
  • Use of Facilities: Students are expected to use institution facilities responsibly and respectfully. Damage or misuse of property may result in disciplinary action.
  • Technology Use: Students are expected to use institution technology responsibly and for academic purposes only. Unauthorized use may lead to disciplinary action.

Hostel Rules

The college provides on-campus hostel accommodation for Post-Basic Specialization students subject to availability. Residents are expected to comply with the following general rules and regulations:

Admission & Allotment

  • Hostel admission is granted for the duration of the 1-year program and is non-transferable.
  • Allotment is made on merit and on the basis of distance from the home town.
  • Residents must submit an undertaking from parent / guardian / employer at the time of admission.

Discipline & Conduct

  • Hostel timings: Entry by 8:00 PM (subject to seasonal change). Late entries require written permission from the Hostel Warden.
  • Residents must maintain discipline, cleanliness and respectful behaviour at all times.
  • No outside guests are permitted to stay overnight without prior approval.
  • Possession or use of any kind of intoxicant, weapon or prohibited item is strictly forbidden.

Visitors & Leave

  • Visitors are received only in the designated visiting area during permitted hours.
  • Leave from hostel must be recorded in the movement register and signed by the Warden.
  • Going home / out-station visits require written consent from parent / guardian.
